Exotic types, weird-looking ones, moths with strange things protruding near their butt, etc.

They're gabbing on and on, fascinated by curious species of bugs -- "omg, they're Bug-of-the-Day-posting!" a la Groyper's series, first on Twitter, then on Gab. One of his popular series, not just an autistic passion project for himself.

Also, Fauna and Groyper are both vegans ("...but I'm not one of those annoying types of vegans"). I doubt for health reasons, but for respecting-the-creatures reasons.

Earlier in that Propnight stream, Fauna makes her character let out a bunch of toots to alert her pursuer to her location. I thought of the BRRRAPPP fart jokes that Groyper is always making. Yes I know, a common form of humor, but it's another similarity, being mostly calm and wholesome, but occasionally indulging in earthy-but-not-disgusting humor.

The OG groypers are into hard rock, metal, and prog -- and so is Fauna! Mostly angsty rock from the 2000s, but she even included "Roundabout" in a recent karaoke stream.

I don't know how much more convincing the righties could need. Their only hold-outs would be those who merely want talk radio / info-tainment instead of pure entertainment, or those with sadly incurable levels of being a girl-hater (functionally gay).agnostichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12967177967469961883noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19346366.post-49242149490448884502022-06-22T18:52:25.918-04:002022-06-22T18:52:25.918-04:00It's worth emphasizing the bipartisan nature o...It's worth emphasizing the bipartisan nature of this return to nature "escapism" (responding to sterile decadence). It's not a fleeting fad in one narrow sub-culture, but a broad-based phenomenon.

The righties who follow Groyper on Gab (many of whom would've been on 4chan once upon a time), are carbon-copies of the cottagecore and goblincore lefties from Tumblr and TikTok.

Their only shibboleth is whether they put pronouns in their bio, or post the gamer-word on their main. Otherwise, identical twins.

But trying to work partisan politics into your sub-culture is from the wokeness wars of the 2010s, and the Vtubers are the first sign of leaving that behind and returning to a less polarized culture.

And it's not only because the Hololive girls are forbidden by contract to put politics into their content or online presence. You can find their material from before they were signed with a talent agency, and there is minimal politics there either.

As is common in entertainment and culture-creating sectors, these Vtubers and other streamers are on the left rather than right. But you wouldn't know it from their content, and they're welcoming to anyone who isn't going to shout about politics in the chat, or make politicized fan-art of their characters.

So if you are on the right and are looking for non-politicized culture -- which you aren't going to find from Hollywood or Netflix or whatever -- give the Vtubers a chance. You can't go wrong with Gura and Fauna, the two I can vouch for from watching regularly.

Plus, friends aren't supposed to be from the exact same backgrounds. Nor are your crushes, if you're watching a streamer for that reason.

Tumblr girl meets 4chan boy -- just the way nature intended.

(And no, I was never on any of those sites, just here on Blogspot the whole time.)agnostichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12967177967469961883noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19346366.post-21671758267808964872022-06-22T18:31:59.807-04:002022-06-22T18:31:59.807-04:00Also, The Secret Garden from the early 1900s.
