The title (though not the lyrics themselves) touches on the theme of mental disorder and confabulation, perhaps a bit too on-the-nose -- but then so it is with the rest of the movie.

And in keeping with the moody, self-pitying '70s vibe that the soundtrack should have aimed for.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMPOKoiMRpw

It could've been used for Arthur's mother longing for Thomas Wayne, who she has deluded herself into believing is the father of her child. Perhaps Arthur himself thinking of Thomas Wayne when he believes he is his father, or Arthur thinking of Murray Franklin as a surrogate father. These two could create too awkward of a homo vibe, though, not a child thinking of their absent / surrogate parent. And Arthur thinking about his neighbor once it's revealed that their relationship was a figment of his imagination.

It wouldn't need to be the entire song, just a verse and chorus over the radio or being performed on a TV show. Maybe as guests on the Murray Franklin Show, which would allow a fuller playing of the song -- intercut with tense and painful reaction shots from Arthur and/or his mother.agnostichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12967177967469961883noreply@blogger.com
